  • Solastalgia Issue 2 Exhibition

    Venue

Truro Cathedral, Truro, Cornwall TR1 2AF

    Monday 1 - Sunday 14 July 2024

The exhibition showcases my life-sized cyanotypes in the stunning setting of Truro Cathedral, alongside work by other artists featured in this year’s edition of Solastalgia magazine, edited by Summer Auty. You can purchase the magazine here Solastalgia ISSUE 2 'TERRIFURIE'.

“Solastalgia Magazine is a collection of creatives responding to climate change, celebrating the natural world and exploring eco-grief. The exhibition brings together a group of artists from the UK and Europe, each responding to climate change in their area; united through a shared grief and a love for our planet.

Shining a light on ecological grief, Solastalgia Issue 2 explores how climate change is impacting our mental health. The exhibition hopes to evoke a moment of reflection on where we may be at in our journey through eco-grief; whether we are feeling sad, helpless, angry, confused, hopeful or fluctuating between them all.

This body of work was born from sitting with the questions of what would happen if we stay with our climate grief, would it lead us to a place of acceptance where we can start to reshape our future? Can expression of these complex emotions help each of us progress from a place of destruction and exploitation of the Earth to one of love and symbiosis?”

  • Fringe Arts Bath Festival 2024

    Venue

    23 New Bond Street, Bath, BA1 1BA

    Saturday 25 May - Sunday 8 June

    11 - 6 daily

Three large cyanotypes forming my ‘Still Belonging’ series will be shown in the ‘Fibromyalgia Perspectives’ exhibition, which forms part of the city-wide Fringe Arts Bath (FaB) event this year.

In this series of 3 cyanotypes I explore the possibility of accessing a sense of belonging, even when also experiencing isolation due to fibromyalgia. The images recall us to our experiences of landscape and ourselves. Nature is both in the world around us and, improtantly, within us. Even when we feel disconnected and are unable to physically access the world outside our room or house, these works remind us that we still belong.

I used hand cut stencils and, gathered from the Somerset levels, fallen foliage, feathers and a butterfly wing are used to add a further sense of place and element.

Three of the four elements are shown, with our physical selves representing the fourth element of earth.

What would you wear to THE LAST PARTY IN THE WORLD?

Hatch Artists reconfigured their creations into wearable artworks for the world’s farewell party.

We Are Golden As We Go

So, these are our last few moments on Earth and we have been given the choice of how to meet them. Those of us here, have chosen to leave in love and beauty. It's simple really. What else is there now? Our hearts are full and spilling over. Spreading like a golden ripple. Providing shelter for all. Our love extends into the world, through the beauty we are creating together. Here, now, as we go. You know that this is all you need now. Love and beauty. After all, we are not taking everything with us and all that we leave behind will flourish and grow. Surrounded by the love and beauty we are creating. Here. As we go.
